Art. 1 – The Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Animal Science offered by the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV) has the purpose of providing students with in-depth scientific training, with the development of research and innovation capacity in different specialized areas of Animal Science.

Sole paragraph – The five specialized areas covered by the Postgraduate Program in Zootechnics are: Nutrition and Production of Ruminants, Nutrition and Production of Non-Ruminants, Forage and Pastures, Genetics and Animal Breeding and Animal Production (which includes the subareas of Animal Physiology, Animal Bioclimatology and Productive Chain of Animal Products).

Art. 2 – The Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Zootechnics comprises two levels of training: Academic Master and Doctorate; which will confer the titles of Magister Scientiae (M.Sc.) and Doctor Scientiae (D.Sc.) in Zootechnics, respectively.

Art. 3 – The title of Magister Scientiae or Doctor Scientiae will be granted to the student who fulfills all the requirements foreseen in the UFV Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Regulations and these Internal Regulations.

Chapter II

Program Coordination

Art. 4 – The didactic-scientific Coordination of the Program will be exercised by a Coordinating Commission made up of:

I – 1 (one) coordinator, as its president, elected by the Collegiate of Program Advisers and appointed by the Rector, upon referral by the head of the Department of Zootechnics;

II – 3 (three) teachers, elected by the Program’s Advisory Board; and

III – 1 (one) representative of the Program’s students, elected by their peers, with the respective alternate.

1 – In order to comply with the provisions of items I and II, all faculty members accredited for the guidance of graduate students with the Program will be considered as Collegiate of Program Advisors.

2º – To comply with the provisions of item III, students regularly enrolled in the Program will be considered peers.

3rd – The coordinator and professors who are members of the Coordinating Committee will serve a term of 2 (two) years, with the possibility of renewal being allowed.

4th – The student representative will exercise a term of 1 (one) year, consecutive reappointment is not permitted, but candidacy in alternate terms is permitted.

5th – Each teaching member of the Coordinating Committee, including its president, must be from specialized areas distinct from the Program.

6th – The coordinator and the Coordinating Committee will exercise all the prerogatives defined by the UFV Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Regulations, in addition to the specific tasks established in these Internal Regulations.

Chapter III

From Admission to the Program and Initial Registration

Art. 5 – The candidate for the Program at both levels must have the title of Zootechnician or course with a full curriculum in which he has taken disciplines related to the Zootechnics course.

Art. 6 – The candidate for the Program at the Doctorate level must have the title of Master Stricto Sensu in which he has taken related disciplines in the area of ​​Zootechnics.

Art. 7 – The documents required for registration for the selection process at both levels will be those established by the UFV Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Regulations, added by supporting documents established by specific Program rules published in the Notice posted on its website.

Art. 8 – The advisors able to receive students for the respective specialized areas of the Program and the dates and places for the selection process will be established by the Coordinating Committee and published in specific notices on the Program’s website.

Sole paragraph – Admissions to the Program at the Doctorate level may occur in the form of a continuous flow, provided that the candidate has been approved according to the regular selection process. There will be no selection process in periods in between the calendar established by the Program for PhD candidates.

Art. 9 – The structure of the selection process, the additional documents required, as well as the weight of each item in the selection process will be established by the Coordinating Committee every four years following the CAPES postgraduate program evaluation calendar, being exposed on the Program’s website.

Sole Paragraph – The structure of the selection process and the weight of each item in the selection process may be modified by the Coordinating Committee in intermediate periods in relation to the calendar based on the four-year evaluation period for CAPES graduate programs, provided that due diligence is carried out exhibition on the Program’s website at the time of registration for the selection process.

Art. 10 – The procedures and documents required for the initial registration of the candidate approved in the selection process will follow what is determined by the Stricto Sensu Graduate Regulations of UFV within the deadlines set out in the UFV School Calendar.

Art. 11 – At the time of initial enrollment, the student must sign a specific document in a specific model with the Program Coordination stating their knowledge and agreement regarding UFV’s intellectual property right on the data and results obtained in their research work.

Sole paragraph – Failure to comply with the aspects described in the caput of this article will result in the Program not accepting enrollment.

Chapter IV

Didactic Regime

Art. 12 – To obtain the title of Master and Doctor, in addition to other requirements, the student must attend a minimum number of 24 (twenty-four) and 48 (forty-eight) credits in subjects, respectively.

1st – Doctoral students with a Master’s degree in an area related to the Program will have computed 50% (fifty percent) of the number of credits required.

2nd – If the Master’s degree was obtained in an area not related to the Doctor’s concentration area (s), the Advisor, with the approval of the Coordinating Committee, will establish the number of credits to be taken.

3rd – For students of the Program at the Master’s level, up to 8 (eight) credits obtained in disciplines taken as non-linked students in Stricto Sensu Graduate Programs recognized in accordance with the current legislation may be used. It is up to the student to provide proof of the courses taken. Only courses taken as a non-linked student with a minimum concept equivalent to 75% (seventy-five percent) of academic performance will be used.

4th – The credits obtained with the discipline ZOO 797 ​​(Seminar) will not be counted towards the payment of the number of credits required by the Program.

5th – In the Teaching Internship subjects, students will be able to use a maximum of 3 (three) credits, in each level, to complete their study plan.

Art. 13 – The curriculum of the Program will consist exclusively of optional subjects, the Coordinating Committee being responsible for updating the list of subjects annually, which will be duly communicated to the Dean of Graduate Studies and displayed on the Program’s website.

Art. 14 – With the agreement of the Student Guidance Committee and authorization of the Program Coordinating Committee, the student may take any other discipline offered by UFV at the stricto sensu postgraduate level, as long as it is considered relevant to its study plan and strategy to carry out your dissertation or thesis work.

Art. 15 – The student may take courses at the stricto sensu postgraduate level in an academic mobility scheme in other institutions in Brazil or abroad, as long as they are considered pertinent to their study plan and there is prior agreement from their Guidance Committee and authorization of the Program Coordinating Committee.

Sole paragraph – the maximum number of credits obtained in courses taken outside UFV will be 50% (fifty percent) of the total credits required to complete the study plan.

Art. 16 – Compliance with foreign language proficiency requirements obtained during the Master’s Degree will be considered sufficient for students at the Doctorate level.

Chapter V

Seminar Requirement

Art. 17 – Each semester and PhD student will be required to present two seminars.

1st – The first seminar, called “free theme seminar”, with a maximum duration of 20 (twenty) minutes, must address the dissertation or thesis project or academic theme related to the student’s concentration area and must be previously approved by the seminar coordinator . This seminar will be presented until the third and fifth academic periods of the Course for students at the Masters and Doctorate levels, respectively.

2nd – The second seminar, with a maximum duration of 40 (forty) minutes, will address the content of the student’s dissertation or thesis, being presented immediately before the beginning of the evaluation process of his final course work.

Art. 18 – The Coordinating Committee will appoint accredited professors of the Program every year to act as coordinators of free-theme seminars.

Sole paragraph – There will be two Seminar Coordinators with the Program, one for students working in areas associated with ruminant animals and the other for students working in areas associated with non-ruminant animals.

Art. 19 – Seminar coordinators are responsible for:

I – Organize the scale of presentation of free-theme seminars throughout the school semester;

II – Make the presentation of the lecturer;

III – Coordinate time and discussions; and

IV – Determine the final grade together with the invited evaluator.

Art. 20 – It is up to the student, under the supervision of his Advisor, to prepare the content of the audiovisual resources.

1º – When presenting the free theme seminar, the student must prepare a written summary in a maximum of 2 (two) pages, duly signed by the student and his / her Advisor.

2nd – Only free theme seminars will be held whose abstracts have been delivered to the Program Coordination at least 1 (one) week in advance, for the purposes of copying and dissemination.

Art. 21 – The seminar evaluation will be carried out jointly by a guest evaluator and the Seminar coordinator, comprising a score from 0 (zero) to 10 (ten), being considered approved the student who obtains an arithmetic average between the two evaluations higher or equal to 7.5 (seven and a half).

1º – All invited professors from UFV will be considered as potential invited evaluators, excluding the Supervisor and other members of the student’s Guidance Committee, and post-doctoral professionals at UFV.

2nd – The Advisor will be responsible for choosing the invited evaluator, with the student being responsible for making a formal invitation to him.

3rd – The student who fails his free theme seminar must make a new presentation in the subsequent semester.

Art. 22 – The presence of a member of the student’s Guidance Committee during the presentation of his free-theme seminar will be considered mandatory.

Art. 23 – The student will be required to attend at least 75% (seventy-five percent) of free-theme seminars until the semester (inclusive) in which he makes his presentation and is approved.

Chapter VI

Course Duration and Additional Dismissal Criteria

Art. 24 – Students who do not fulfill all the requirements for completing the Course within the maximum established period of 24 (twenty-four) and 48 (forty-eight) months, for the Master and Doctorate levels, respectively, will be disconnected from the Program .

1º – The Program Coordination will issue the first concept N in the discipline ZOO 799 (Research) to all students at the end of the third and seventh academic periods for the Master and Doctorate levels, respectively, if these periods do not correspond to the period of conclusion of the Course.

2nd – The Program Coordination will issue the second concept N in the discipline ZOO 799 (Research) for all Master students at the end of the fourth term and Doctorate at the end of the eighth term.
Chapter VII

Student Orientation

Art. 25 – The didactic-pedagogical orientation of the student will be exercised by an Advisor appointed by the Coordinating Committee, observing the provisions of the Internal Regulations of the Program, whose attributions are:

I – define, together with the student, the study plan;

II – propose the names of the Co-supervisors;

III – guide the research, object of the student’s dissertation or thesis;

IV – approve requests for substitution, cancellation and enrollment in disciplines and for registration cancellation;

V – provide assistance to the student in relation to current academic processes, standards and requirements; and

VI – preside over the Dissertation or Thesis and Qualification Examination Defense Board.

Sole Paragraph – In the event that the Advisor is prevented from exercising the duties defined in item VI of this Article, the Program Coordinating Committee will be responsible for appointing a representative among the accredited teachers of the Program, preferably among those who make up the student’s Advisory Committee, to exercise the responsibility. banking chairmanship.

Art. 26 – The student’s Guidance Committee will be composed of its Advisor and one to two Co-supervisors, who may be chosen from among the professors accredited for the purpose in the Program or professionals external to the Program, provided that the provisions of Art. 51 are observed this Internal Regulation.

Sole paragraph – The accreditation of Co-supervisors external to the Program will be carried out under the approval of the Coordinating Committee and will follow the procedures and documents determined by UFV’s Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Regulations and these Internal Regulations.

Chapter VIII

Qualifying Exam

Art. 27 – Every student candidate for the title of Doctor Scientiae in Zootechnics must undergo a qualification exam.

Sole Paragraph – The objective of the qualification exam is to assess whether the student has a scientific background consistent with that of a candidate for the title of Doctor Scientiae in Zootechnics.

Art. 28 – The qualification exam must be completed by the sixth period of the student’s admission to the Program.

Sole Paragraph – If the provisions of the caput of this article are not complied with, the Program Coordination will issue a concept N in the discipline ZOO 799 (Research) to the student at the end of his sixth term.

Art. 29 – The examining board will be composed of 5 (five) members, all doctors, who will be established by the Advisor.

1st – The board will be chaired by the Advisor, observing the reservation established in the sole paragraph of Art. 25 of these Internal Regulations.

2nd – At least one member of the examining board must be external to the Program. External members are defined as professionals who comply with the provisions of Paragraphs 4 and 5 of Article 39 of this Regulation.

3rd – At least one member of the examining board must act in an area other than the student’s area of ​​concentration.

4th – The participation of post-doctoral professionals as members of the examining board will be allowed, provided that the criteria determined by Art. 40 of these Rules are obeyed.

Art. 30 – The qualification exam will consist of two stages: written or preparation stage and oral stage.

1º – The written or preparation stage will be conducted individually by each examiner, in advance of the oral stage, in which a written exam or preparation will be requested through studies on a theme defined by the examiner.

2nd – The oral stage will take place on a defined date with the meeting of all members of the examining board, which will argue the student based on the themes defined in the written or preparation stage, or based on any theme associated with the student’s training area to verify the conditions set forth in the Sole Paragraph of Article 27 of these Internal Regulations.

Art. 31 – The final exam score will be issued at the end of the oral stage. Each examiner will assign a grade from 0 (zero) to 10 (ten) to the student’s performance. The final grade will consist of the arithmetic average of the grades of the individual examiners, being considered approved the student who obtains a final grade equal to or greater than 7.5 (seven and a half) issued by all members of the examining board.

Art. 32 – The doctoral student who submits within the period established in Art. 28 of this Regulation the acceptance of at least 1 (one) article from his thesis work in journals classified as A1 or A2 by Qualis / CAPES in the area of Zootechnics / Fisheries Resources in force may be exempted from the written or preparation stage, being submitted only to the oral exam.

Sole Paragraph – To take advantage of what the caput of this Article determines, the student must prove to the Coordinating Committee the status of acceptance or publication of the article (s) in at least 15 (fifteen) days prior to the examination oral.

Chapter IX

Research

Art. 33 – Every graduate student must prepare, necessarily, a research project for the development of his dissertation or thesis, under the direct supervision of his Advisory Committee.

Sole paragraph – The registration of the project mentioned in the caput of this article will take place as a subproject associated with training linked to an autonomous research project (“umbrella project”) coordinated by the Advisor.

Art. 34 – The research projects of students applying for the title of Magister Scientiae or Doctor Scientiae must be registered with the Dean of Research and Graduate Studies by the last day of launching concepts related to the third and fifth academic semesters, as defined by the School Calendar, respectively.

Sole paragraph – Failure to meet the deadlines established in the caput of this article will imply concept N in the discipline ZOO 799 (Research).

Art. 35 – The results of the dissertation or thesis arising from the research project will be considered property of UFV and may only be disclosed in any medium with the consent and participation of the Advisor, the mention of the University being mandatory, in the pertinent form, as the origin of the job.

1st – The student’s research results obtained during the postgraduate period will be subject to the current laws and UFV rules regarding intellectual property

2 – It is mandatory to mention the agency (s) that financed the scholarship and / or the research project, both in the dissertation or thesis and in any publication of the resultant.

3rd – The priority for publication of the results of the dissertation or thesis research is reserved to the student as the first author for submission within 90 (ninety) days after the date of defense of his dissertation or thesis. From that period, the Advisor may assume responsibility for submitting the publication as the first author, if applicable, but with the mandatory inclusion of the student as co-author.

4th – Works produced by doctoral students in a “sandwich” internship period abroad must mention the UFV, the scholarship funding agency and count on the participation of their Advisor in the body of co-authors of the work.

Article 36 – As a result of an agreement, the research may be carried out in another institution in Brazil or abroad, in which case, a local Co-supervisor may be appointed, duly accredited by the Program Coordination and by the Dean of Research and Post- University graduate.

Sole Paragraph – The agreeing institution must also be mentioned as the source of the work.

Chapter X

Dissertation or Thesis

Art. 37 – Every graduate student who is a candidate for the title of Magister Scientiae or Doctor Scientiae must prepare and defend a dissertation or thesis, respectively, and be approved.

1º – The dissertation or thesis, under the supervision of the Supervisory Committee, should be based on original research work that represents a real contribution to scientific or technological knowledge in the area of ​​Zootechnics.

2nd – The dissertation or thesis may be written in Portuguese, English or Spanish, the language and content being the responsibility of the candidate and the Guiding Committee, and may follow specific journal rules in terms of format and organization.

Art. 38 – The dissertation or thesis can only be submitted to the defense after the fulfillment of all the requirements foreseen in the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Regulations of UFV and in these Internal Regulations and with the express consent of the Guiding Committee.

1st – The nomination of the board will only be approved by the Program Coordinating Committee after the delivery of the consent form for defense signed by the Supervisory Committee and a copy of the thesis or dissertation in digital and editable form in the Program Coordination, with a minimum advance of 15 (fifteen) days from the date set for defense.

2nd – The appointment of the board will be subject to the delivery by the student to the Advisor of all original data obtained during the execution of his research project, with notes and editable files. This delivery must be certified by the Advisor through a signed declaration.

Art. 39 – The dissertation or thesis will be defended before a board formed by holders of the title of Doctor, under the chairmanship of the Advisor, except in the cases provided for in the Sole Paragraph of Art. 25 of these Internal Regulations.

1st – The dissertation board will be appointed with a minimum of 3 (three) and a maximum of 5 (five) full members and 2 (two) alternates and the thesis board will be appointed with 5 (five) full members and 2 (two) alternates .

2nd – Of the members of the dissertation board, at least 1 (one) member must be external to the Program and not belong to the student’s Guidance Committee.

3rd – Of the full members of the thesis board, at least 2 (two) members must be external to the Program, at least 1 (one) of which is external to UFV, without any of these 2 (two) members belonging to the student’s Guidance Committee .

4th – Members with a doctorate and employment relationship at UFV who are not part of the Program or, if graduates, who are not appointed to the board in the same year of their thesis defense are considered members outside the Program, but not UFV.

5th – Professionals with a doctorate and employment relationship in another institution in Brazil or abroad who are not part of the Program or, if graduates, who are not appointed to the board in the same year of their thesis defense are considered members outside the Program and UFV.

Art. 40 – Postdoctoral professionals will be allowed to participate in newsstands according to the rules below:

I. It will not be allowed to participate in evaluation boards of dissertations or theses or doctoral qualification exams of post-doctoral professionals at the Zootechnics Department who do not have an employment relationship, with the exception of PNPD / CAPES scholarship holders;

II.The participation of PNPD / CAPES scholarship holders in evaluation boards of dissertations or theses or doctoral qualification exams will always occur as an internal member of the Program;

III. Members outside the Program, but not outside the Institution, will be considered postdoctoral professionals in other Departments of UFV, as long as their participation does not occur in the same year as their doctoral thesis defense;

IV. Post-doctoral professionals from other institutions in Brazil or abroad will be considered members outside the Program and the Institution, as long as their participation does not occur in the same year as their doctoral thesis defense; and

V. Members outside the Program and the Institution will be considered post-doctoral professionals in the Zootechnics Department who have an employment relationship with another institution, as long as their participation does not occur in the same year as their doctoral thesis defense.

Art. 41 – After the defense, the student must deliver to the Program Coordination an editable digital copy of the final version of the dissertation or thesis.

Chapter XI

Scholarship

Art. 42 – The Program Coordination, according to availability, will grant scholarship to the selected and enrolled student.

Sole Paragraph – The scholarship belongs to the Program and not to the student, except in the case of scholarships granted by funding agencies directly to the Advisor.

Art. 43 – The scholarship granted by the Program will have a maximum duration of 24 (twenty-four) and 42 (forty-two) months for the Master and Doctorate, respectively.

Sole paragraph – For doctoral students who have a doctorate with a “sandwich” internship at an institution abroad, the scholarship granted by the Program may have a maximum duration of 48 (forty-eight) months, upon request from the Advisor.

Art. 44 – The granting of the scholarship by the Program implies exclusive dedication to the Course and residency in Viçosa, except when conducting the research in another institution or “sandwich” internship in an institution abroad.

Sole paragraph – In exceptional cases, in accordance with Joint Ordinance CAPES / CNPq nº 1 of July 15, 2010, the student will be authorized to receive financial supplementation for employment related to teaching activities, with the approval of the Coordinating Committee, provided that there is no compromise in its activities with the Program.

Art. 45 – The scholarship granted by the Program may be suspended or canceled by the Coordinating Committee, or by the Financing Agency, for academic, disciplinary or financial reasons, with no right to indemnity to the scholarship holder.

Art. 46 – The withdrawal of enrollment is grounds for immediate suspension of the scholarship, without any acquired right in the eventual return of the student.

Art. 47 – The scholarship granted by the Program will be canceled if the student does not meet the deadlines established for any requirement established in the UFV Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Regulations and these Internal Regulations.

Sole Paragraph – The student who benefits from a scholarship granted directly to the Advisor will be subject to all deadlines and penalties for non-compliance with the requirements established in this Internal Regulation.

Chapter XII

Accreditation of Advisors and Co-supervisors

Art. 48 – Effective professors of UFV belonging to the staff of professors of the Department of Zootechnics and holders of doctor’s degrees may apply for the position of Program Advisor.

1st – The accreditation request will be made through a letter addressed to the Coordinating Committee with a printed copy of the applicant’s Lattes curriculum, his doctor’s degree and a copy of a research project duly submitted or with financing approved by a public or private funding agency , which will be analyzed by the Coordinating Committee. In case of approval, the request will be forwarded to the appropriate procedures at the UFV Pro-Rectory for Research and Graduate Studies.

2 – The first approval of the request made by the teacher in the form of the caput of this Article will be considered “accreditation”. Teachers previously accredited in the Program will undergo re-accreditation assessment, as described in this Internal Regulation.

Art. 49 – Teachers whose accreditation has been approved will undergo a performance evaluation period of 6 (six) years, counted from the beginning of the academic semester subsequent to the date of their accreditation.

1 – At the end of the evaluation period, those teachers who do not fit the rules and goals for the re-accreditation of the Program will have their accreditation automatically suspended by the Coordinating Committee.

2nd – The professor accredited in the Program will be authorized to provide guidance at the master’s level. Doctoral-level guidance will only be allowed after the completion of 1 (one) master’s degree.

Art. 50 – During the evaluation period, the teacher, at the discretion of the Coordinating Committee, may maintain a maximum of 4 (four) supervised simultaneously.

Art. 51 – The request for accreditation of professionals for co-supervision, whether internal or external to UFV, may be made by any Program Advisor through the following documents:

I. Reasoned letter written by the Advisor addressed to the Coordinating Committee containing the justifications for including the professional as a co-supervisor of a specific student;

II.Copy of the doctor’s degree;

III.Declaration signed by the immediate head of the professional candidate for co-supervisor expressing his agreement with his performance as co-supervisor of the Program; and

IV. Printed copy of the candidate’s co-supervisor’s Lattes curriculum.

1º – External professionals and graduates of the Program can only be accepted as co-supervisors if they have an employment relationship and that co-supervision does not occur during the CAPES Quadrennium of their thesis defense.

2nd – The performance of PNPD / CAPES scholarship holders of the Program as co-supervisors of students in the Program is allowed in the same way as the caput of this article, as long as it does not occur in the year of their thesis defense.

Art. 52 – The accreditation of professors and researchers external to UFV as co-supervisors will not imply employment or any kind of relationship with the University, nor will it entail any responsibility on the part of this or the Program

Chapter XII

The Accreditation of Supervisors and Scheduling as to the Number of Oriented

Art. 53 – “Renewal” is defined as the renewal of the accreditation of Program Advisors carried out periodically based on their scientific performance and productivity.

1st – The periodicity of the re-accreditation with the Program will follow CAPES’s Quadrennial Program for Postgraduate Programs evaluation and will occur in the first quarter of the first year of this calendar.

2 – The request for re-accreditation will consist of a letter in a specific model addressed to the Coordinating Committee accompanied by supporting documents on productivity to be established by the Coordinating Committee for each request.
3rd – Failure to comply with the request for re-accreditation by the teacher within the period established in this Internal Regulation will incur immediate disqualification as a Program Advisor.

4th – It will be the responsibility of the Coordinating Committee to judge the requests for re-accreditation and to communicate the results to the professors and to the Dean of Research and Graduate Studies for approval and updating of the Program’s advisors.

Art. 54 – The structure of the evaluation process for the re-accreditation of teachers based on their scientific productivity will be established by the Coordinating Committee, with the consent of the Collegiate of Supervisors of the Program every four years, following the evaluation schedule of postgraduate programs. CAPES graduate, being exposed on the Program’s website.

Sole Paragraph – The structure of the evaluation process for re-accreditation may be modified by the Coordinating Committee, with the consent of the Collegiate of Advisors, in intermediate periods in relation to the calendar based on the four-year evaluation period for CAPES graduate programs, since that the appropriate presentation was made on the Program’s website.

Art. 55 – The annual definition of the maximum number of students to be maintained simultaneously by accredited professors of the Program is defined by “staggering as to the number of students to be enrolled”.

Art. 56 – The scheduling will be carried out in the first quarter of each year based on the scientific productivity of the Advisor in the 4 (four) years prior to the year of assessment.

Art. 57 – The rules for scheduling will be defined annually by the Program Coordinating Committee with the consent of the Collegiate of Advisors and disclosed on the Program’s website.

Art. 58 – All professors accredited or re-accredited with the Program have the task of contributing with theoretical questions to the selection processes of the Program when requested by the Coordinating Committee.

Sole Paragraph – Teachers who do not comply with the provisions of the caput of this Article will suffer a penalty of 50% (fifty percent) in the staggering as to the number of advisers.

Post-Doctoral Internship

Art. 59 – The Zootechnics Department, in conjunction with the Post-Graduate Program in Zootechnics, will offer post-doctoral internship opportunities to professionals with a doctorate degree, without an employment relationship with UFV, who, on their own interest, wish to update or consolidate knowledge in specific areas of animal science.

Sole paragraph – The Coordinating Committee is responsible for evaluating the postdoctoral professional performance, serving as an advisory body to the Zootechnics Department regarding the issue or not of certification of the activities developed.

Art. 60 – It is up to the candidate the initiative to request the Department of Zootechnics and the intended supervisor their participation in the Postdoctoral Internship Program.

Art. 61 – Only post-doctoral professionals will be accepted and recognized after fulfilling all the requirements in terms of documents and procedures defined by the UFV Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Regulations.

Art. 62 – Only professors accredited to the Program and who have completed at least 1 (one) doctorate orientation are able to act as post-doctoral internship supervisor.

Sole paragraph – Volunteer professors from the Department of Zootechnics acting in accordance with CONSU Resolution 15/2015, but not accredited, will be supervised by postdoctoral professionals.

Art. 63 – The post-doctoral internship will have a minimum duration of 4 (four) months.

Art. 64 – At the end of his post-doctoral period, the professional must deliver to the Program Coordinating Committee a proven report of his activities with the due agreement of his supervisor.

1º – After evaluating the activity report, the Program will communicate to the Zootechnics Department the result of the evaluation for measures regarding the issue or not of the post-doctoral certificate.
2 – Failure to deliver the report under the caput of this article will result in the non-issuance of a certificate of completion of the post-doctoral internship.

Art. 65 – For post-doctoral professionals in the Zootechnics Department supported with resources from CAPES’s National Post-Doctoral Program (PNPD), the following additional rules must be observed:

I. It will be up to the fellow, with the due agreement of his supervisor, to deliver an annual report of activities to the Program Coordinating Committee, which must take place in the first month of the first semester according to the UFV School Calendar;

II. The Coordinating Committee will be responsible for evaluating the activities developed by the fellow, who will have the autonomy to recommend the continuity of activities or the replacement of the fellow; and

III.The replacement of the scholarship holder will occur through a public and specific Public Notice designated for the area to be defined by the Coordinating Committee.

Art. 66 – All post-doctoral professionals at the Department of Zootechnics are allowed to direct course completion papers (TCC) of students of the Undergraduate Course in Zootechnics.

1º – The TCC orientation of undergraduate students in Zootechnics will only be accepted if the defense of the final work occurs during the post-doctoral internship period.

2nd – The accreditation of the post-doctoral professional as a TCC supervisor for undergraduate students will follow what the UFV Undergraduate Course in Zootechnics Coordinating Committee determines.
Chapter XIV

Final Provisions

Art. 67 – The points not covered in this Internal Regulation will be governed by what determines the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Regulation of UFV.

Art. 68 – Omitted cases will be decided by the Coordinating Committee of the Postgraduate Program in Animal Science.

Art. 69 – This Internal Regulation will come into force on the date of its approval.
